Give a summary of how your blog started

So blogging is something I’ve wanted to do for years but just never had the courage to do. I always thought to myself that no one would want to read what I wrote or care about what I had to say. The self doubt and negativity actually hampered me from creating a blog in the first place.

At the start of the year I converted my personal Instagram account into a blogging account and I realized that people from all over the world were engaging with and reading my content. While I was under Stay At Home orders I decided to take the leap of faith and create a blog on WordPress and here I am.

However none of this would have been possible without the support of my boyfriend and my sister who encouraged me to bring this into existence.

Two pieces of advice for any new bloggers

I still consider myself new to blogging but I know the two things I worry about are subscribers to my blog and engagement with my blog posts. I stopped worrying about those things and instead focused on consistent, high quality blog posts for my readers which has actually improved traffic to my blog.

My first piece of advice will be to engage with other bloggers on WordPress. Actually read their blog posts, leave a like, leave a genuine comment under their post. If their writing and content resonates with you, give them a follow. You will be surprised how following someone else can prompt them to check out your blog and also follow you.

My second piece of advice is to post consistently and do not give up. I have a full-time job, I generate content for my blog and my Instagram, I have relationships with my family and friends to manage, and I am in a military relationship which requires time, effort, and energy to work. As it stands, I am able to publish one blog post bimonthly. I have seen other bloggers post three blogs weekly. My best advice is to work out a posting schedule that is feasible for you and just be consistent with it. Do not give up on your blog because you aren’t seeing the results you expected to see. It takes time to grow your blog but with consistency and working smartly you will get there.
